## Review Date #note/sourcereview/book | #source/book📚/fiction | #source/book📚/ingested ## What is the story No is an adolescent boy sent to the village of Faha to live with his grandparents after his mother has died from what sounds like Multiple Sclerosis. The year is approximately 1950's in rural Ireland, the summer is the year electricity is coming to the community. No and Faha experience a summer of unexpected events, inevitable change, resistance to change, and the human experience. The prose is beyond amazing. The sad parts are funny and the funny parts are sad, nouns verbs and adjectives stir together in ice cream sundaes of delicious descriptions of people, place and time. ## What else do I wonder about? What is lost as we grow, what is inevitable, what _should_ be resisted even when it is inevitable. Chapter 1: _It had stopped raining._ Is a perfect start to the book. The unexpected surprises of the complex world in one 4-word sentence. ## Source: Williams, N. (2019). _This is happiness_.
