#note/sourcereview/book ## What is the story? Two young climbers climb Huntington Ravine in January 1982, they become lost trying to summit Mt. Washington in a winter storm. They end up being driven to the Great Gulf, and in the ensuing 3 days of searching a rescuer, Albert Dow, is killed in an avalanche on an area of Lion's Head that has never slid before. A heroic rescue takes place by helicopter when, after people have given up on the search, the climbers are found huddled and nearly dead. They are evacuated to Littleton Hospital where they recover. ## What else do I wonder about? How in goodness did they survive for 3 days without shelter in sub-zero conditions? ## Action Always bring my 10 essentials ## When do I want to stumble across this? #on/decisions | #on/searchandrescue | #on/resiliency ## Source: Gagne, T.
