## Review Date #note/sourcereview/book | #source/book📚/fiction ## What is the story Three friends, Asian women, meet in the late 80's and find their lives intermittently intertwined as they grow up and become adults. They experience the dot-com bust of 2000, Y2K, and eventually America's decline into authoritarianism in the 2030's and 2040's. The book takes place in several parts, and the story drives the action more than your connection to the characters. ## What else do I wonder about? How did Lisa Ko forsee this decline into a technoauthoritarian state? Maybe it's her connection to Asia and seeing what is happening in China? Just a guess, maybe she had her pulse on the US. ## Action Think about when a story drives the action vs the characters experience of the story. ## When do I want to stumble across this? #on/postapocalypse | #womeninfiction ## Source: Ko, L.
