topic: [[Thinking]] created: 2022-12-08 *What gets our attention gets increased and exacerbated.* This reminds me of [[your brain keeps score, your body is the scorecard]], when you pay attention to stressful ideas, they impact your body over time. When it comes to training, there is a school of thought that [[any attention is a behavioral reinforcement]], meaning the best way of reducing a behavior is no attention, and any attention is almost as strong as positive reinforcement (McConnell, 2003). It's kind of like [[Implementation intentions]], focusing on the right thing at the right moment is one of the ways of [[Forming Habits]]. Also, though [[appreciation balances our negative tilt]], if you focus on appreciation you can improve your [[wellness]] by overwhelming our inborn negative focus. This is a saying that I heard during recordings of my hypnosis session to treat my anxiety of flying. Appreciation to Lynn Lyons for this great saying. This matters because the [[attention economy]] is all about amplification of what gets our attention. Part of the purpose of this blog is to turn my attention into something useful. ##### What would the opposite argument be? tags: #note/statement | #on/learning | #on/behavior | #on/pets ##### Sources: McConnell, P.
