*Crafting a story is more valuable than crafting data.*
This reminds me of [[ways of knowing]], people have their mind grown and changed by stories more than data, [[Transformative Learning]] does not happen by looking at numbers.
It's kind of like [[Story not study]], and using your research to create a story as opposed to reporting the study.
The phrase "[[the best story wins]]" is an idea from the book [[Same as Ever]] which aims to collect the ideas that always exist, and this is one of those consistent ideas through human history that we should pay attention to.
why does it matter?
"[[Stories leverage ideas the same way debt leverages assets]]."
[[We see the world in stories]], so helping people see the world through story is the easy way to convince them, or yourself. [[Not what's the product but instead what's the job to be done?]] Can we determine the story that needs to be told? As Jeff Bezos said, "[[The thing I have noticed is that when the anecdotes and the data disagree, the anecdotes are usually right. There is something wrong with the way that you are measuring it.]]"
##### What would the opposite argument be?
Without data to guide us, factual data, we can be lead astray by stories. The person the man or woman with substance use disorder lies to the most is themselves. We actually are easy to lie to, so make sure you balance stories with data, [[truth is the language that expresses universality]], let the truth come through with objective data, or at least triangulate the stories.
