*Master the pause: when facing an important choice with repercussions, instead of going with the first idea, [[stop, challenge, choose]].*
This reminds me of [[reset, reframe, engage]], another way of describing taking a moment to [[make a space between stimulus and response]].
It's kind of like moving into [[System 2]] thinking with purpose, after [[reflection-during action]], what do I know and why do I believe it to be true? It's like building in a moment for [[epistemic humility]], to catch your [[Assumptions]] before they bite you.
##### what is it?
[[stop, challenge, choose]] is a mantra that can be used to question your own decision making before putting into action.
##### why does it matter?
The goal is preventing [[Blind Spot]], errors, and assumptions.
##### What would the opposite argument be?
Sometimes your instincts are amazing, can you tell when to go with your gut and when not to? Sometimes the pause, which has it's own cost, is a problem, and makes you over-think things.
