It also reminds me of [[Thinking Fast and Slow]], when we move we are changing the speed of our thinking. It's kind of like american sign language, babies speaking, and giving lectures. It's kind of like how you can watch a video with no sound and sometimes take more meaning/ This is an idea that we think of gestures as improving language, but another way of considering this combined communication process is that language improves our gestures. It would be amazing to create a lecture with just gestures, then fill in the language later. While people are learning there is often a mismatch between the verbal and non-verbal. They often connect the non-verbal first. This matters because if we pay attention to how we move, and what we are communicating with [[non-verbal communication]], we will get the verbal stuff right. ### What would the opposite argument be? People with no arms, are paraplegic, or otherwise impaired maybe are at a disadvantage? Or, do they accomplish this in another way? ## Sources: [[The Extended Mind]]
