# sharpen the saw
Lon Setnik
dates:: 2022-04-18
*At the end of a day cutting trees, the lumberjack isn't done until s/he has sharpened the saw.*
This reminds me of building a reflective life. I need to [[Design my life to live]] so that my days end in time for me to be able to get a little better as a person each day.
For me, this is going to be a few things:
- Stretching and rolling (active recovery)
- Journaling
- Reflecting on what was effective and what wasn't
- Finding a tiny new [[Forming Habits]] to experiment with
This matters because at the end of the day there's never enough time. And the saw will cut faster tomorrow if it's sharp when we start using it.
### What would the opposite argument be?
Clean up at times, but just start tomorrow tomorrow. Sleep is important, rest is important, we haven't been given the time to sharpen the saw. I can't do it all, something has to give!
