*The distribution of power, money, and technology is the lived values of a society. Like a garden, if constant attention isn't paid to the process, you won't get the outcome you were hoping for.*
This reminds me of [[🐓 Idea Farm/9 🗄 Backlog/social network theory]] and how real authority lies in certain individuals, not in role authority.
## How do we gain power?
- determine what others value
- provide increase access to what they value
- decrease access to alternatives to us
## How do we redistribute power?
- Change the access to what others value. If we help them, it empowers us, and shifts the balance of power. If we can reduce their access, it disempowers them and shifts the balance of power.
## What do others value?
- [[people value safety and self-esteem]]
## When does power corrupt?
- hubris
- self-focus
## How to prevent power corruptions? ![[prevent power corruptions with systems]]
It's kind of like how social comparisons are the basis of us telling how we are doing in terms of success or failure. Social comparison is a key of the [[Power Leaks]], it prevents us from [[Identifying Reality]] and creates an [[Forming Identity]] based on those around us instead of within us.
This statement describes the main tools for distribution of and access to opportunity
This matters because when we put moralities on these concepts that are in themselves amoral, we miss the opportunity to engage in their use.
### What would the opposite argument be?
The opposite argument is that power is dirty, so we should avoid it. Like being "filthy rich, too much power would be gross."
