It's kind of like [[Eliminate before optimize]] This is a way of looking at the world and at people, that they automatically are always learning, the question is, can you ensure they are learning the right things. Chris Argrys looks for what promotes learning, Amy Edmondson looked at learning as the natural state of humans, so she considered what gets in the way of learning, and how to eliminate it. In this case, the biggest thing that got in the way was a lack of [[psychological safety]], so people were not able to take risk by experimenting or teach each other through [[Feedback]]. In fact, they learned that they couldn't do those things. ### What would the opposite argument be? Lots of times, people aren't learning, they aren't pushing boundaries or experimenting. Lots of people just want [[Safety]] and status as what they are pursuing. ## Sources: [[edmondsonPsychologicalSafetyLearning1999]]
