Emergence is the phenomenon of the sum being greater than the parts. It is an element of [[dealing with complexity]], in that when multiple ideas collide, between the ideas a new concept is created. Emergence lives in the space between ideas, not in the ideas themselves. Emergence is about relationships between ideas. In [[Linking Your Thinking]] we are using emergence to describe the movement from ideas to maps of content. [[Zettelkasten]] is the process of connecting ideas in order to allow emergence to occur. Emergence is related to but opposite from [[Convergence]] Question: [[Thinking in Systems.pdf]] identifies conditions for emergence, feedback loops would be part of the concept that would create the conditions of emergence, I would think? ## Sources: [[Linking Your Thinking]]
