*How can everyone get to choose how much of their life to sell?*
This reminds me of [[Four Thousand Weeks]], and how your life span is limited.
It's kind of like [[enough]], can you get to enough? If so, how can you recognize when you have it and avoid the [[hedonic treadmill]]?
Economic freedom is one of the three freedoms described in [[🐓 Idea Farm/Deadfall/For myself only/Readwise/Books/The World After Capital]]
why does it matter?
It matters because if people can be released of the need to earn for their own survival, they can then make choices about earning for the other things that the value, such as [[autonomy]] and [[Purpose]], as well as the choice of job that they are willing to take.
For those with enough already, the concept of economic freedom is related to the idea that we need to set ourselves up to [[be available for the opportunity]] when it arrives.
In the information age, we need to get as many people solving the big problems of the world. Economic freedom is a backdrop to getting people involved in that part of the solution. One should consider it a form of justice, like access to free air.
##### What would the opposite argument be?
The opposing arguments are mostly about collapse of the job market, cost, socialization. Indeed, with UBI, we can consider the government as stepping back from the management of our society. Freely giving capital allows for more individual choice, not less.
