%% [[Thinking]] people:: Lon Setnik dates:: 2022-11-30 %% *Of course you believe yourself over others, only you have your own perspective.* This reminds me of [[availability bias]], you have much more availability to your own thoughts than to others. It's kind of like other [[cognitive biases]], which are systematic misinterpretations. This is a statement that is designed to be a pithy reminder that you don't have a truth, but your brain does pervert your thinking to believe yourself no matter how solid your foundation of thinking is (see Flat Earth movement!). This matters because when you are in conversations if you are open to being changed, you are going to learn, and they are also more likely to be changed. When you get into preacher mode, you may be inspirational, but you are now closed to change, and that makes others feel pressured by [[your leaky face]]. ### What would the opposite argument be? You do have a unique perspective that is important to you. Don't undervalue that. %% tags: #note/statement | #on/thinking %% ## Sources: [[Think Again]]
