Where do you store things that gives you the stressful feeling of falling further and further behind? I personally hate the feeling of being behind on my article reading, but I keep downloading more and more articles that I want to read. You have permission declare [[content bankruptcy]] and to wipe your to-read and to-watch piles clean. Maybe you even _should_ do this periodically. In fact, this is part of my weekly review process. I clean my piles, and use the [[GTD Methodology]] to clarify the next step. Will I just store it, then if I need to find an article on the subject, I can search my [[antilibrary]]. I can also create a [[pull don't push]] system, where I go to my [[antilibrary]] to determine what to read next, instead of going to the internet. I think [[content bankruptcy]] will help with my goal of [[Slow Productivity|Slow Productivity]], and living a life of calm. Ideas like this really help with reducing overload and [[burnout]]. ##### why does it matter? Do you have a pile of books on your bedside table you intend to read? Have a pile of papers you want to read? Have a series of podcasts you intend to listen to ... Just wipe it, and start from scratch. If the book/pod/article is really important, it will rise to the surface again. [[content bankruptcy]] sets you FREE! Here's my example this morning ... Here's the list of my notes (as of January 22, 2025) I intend to write ... How would my motivation change if I just deleted all of these and started over. ![[CleanShot 2025-01-22 at 06.02.27.jpg]] ##### This reminds me of [[a simple no]] is a key idea in maintaining a happy life. [[Future Lon]] needs my support by ignoring what Past Lon _thought_ he would be able to do... Additionally, when you have to declare [[content bankruptcy]], you should take a look at your processes. This is a case of [[accidental feedback]], feedback the world is giving you about your processes for collecting, deciding, and taking action. This is a way of pulling the [[andon cord]] on your "I want to" lists. The [[chaos monkey]] is trashing your plans. ##### What would the opposite argument be? But, I want to be a person who "keeps up." tags: #note/idea | #on/balance | #on/closure ##### Sources: Deziel, M. (2020). _[[The Content Fuel Framework]]: How to Generate Unlimited Story Ideas_.
