topic: [[Designing Curricula]] created: 2024-01-18 *I am the note template.* ##### what is it? “The principles of constructive alignment are that learning activities should meet identified stakeholder needs(Biggs and Tang 2011).” (Somerville et al., 2023, p. 2) ##### why does it matter? When we have constructive alignment, we work towards solving the real problems. This mirrors backwards design, and other ways of making sure that educational activities are meeting the needs of the key stakeholders. ##### This reminds me of [[Readiness Goals]], don't just run sims, solve problems, get people ready. By focusing on getting people ready, we increase the [[mastery, autonomy and purpose paradigm]] towards [[wellness]]. This reminds me of [[functional task alignment]], the idea of choosing a learning and simulation modality that fits the need is a key element of determining outcomes. ##### What would the opposite argument be? The curriculum is a political document that must be negotiated.
