topic: [[Teaming by Amy Edmondson]] created: 2023-07-01 *How an individual values the team.* This reminds me of [[you amplify what you focus on]], if you are paying attention to the team as it's own entity, you amplify the teaming. It's kind of like [[relational coordination]] is a focus not only on the tasks that are needing to be done, but also the relationships that exist between the people that are doing the tasks. Collective orientation is an individual attribute. It exists on a spectrum. This matters because individuals can be more or less attuned to the idea that they are in this separate thing called a team, and that team needs its own support and energy for it to thrive. ##### What would the opposite argument be? If we all just do our best work, which takes our full attention, then we will have our best outcome. You pay attention to you and I'll pay attention to me. #### What questions do I have? How is (or can it be) collective orientation learned? tags: #note/idea | #on/team | #on/personality ##### Sources: Tannenbaum, S. I., & Salas, E.
