*assume your first instinct is wrong, your instincts were designed for another time and place.*
This reminds me of [[modern ancient mismatch]]
It's kind of like [[Thinking Fast and Slow]] and [[Thinking in Systems]] give you ways to combat your [[cognitive biases]]
This is a frame of mind to [[don't believe everything you think]], the path to enlightenment goes through counterintuitive phases, like the key to psychological safety is it being on for the leader to be imperfect and [[modeling vulnerability]]
This matters because we are prone to believing our instincts, they make so much sense to us! However, we need to [[acknowledge and redirect]] our first instinct to get past it!
##### What would the opposite argument be?
Our instincts are a key to being able to get through the day. Trust your instinct is an important feature of being an expert.
