*I park on the 7th floor when I get to CMS at 9 am because that is what is possible at that time, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates invented operating systems because they were the adjacent possible technologies during those times.*
This reminds me of [[zone of proximal development]], how the growth and newness happens just outside what is currently possible.
It's kind of like the idea in [[🐓 Idea Farm/Deadfall/For myself only/Readwise/Books/Understanding by Design]] that expertise comes with overcoming through experience the [[essential questions]] and the counterintuitive ideas that allow you to overcome failure to [[turn wounds into wisdom]] because [[wisdom can't be told]].
This is a mindset that innovation and creativity come partially from the adjacent possible, the possible that hasn't been done yet, not the impossible.
It matters because if you can create [[Systems]] that explore the adjacent possible routinely, with your [[My Favorite Questions]] and testing new ideas against them, you will have the opportunity at least, to create in the adjacent possible.
### What would the opposite argument be?
Innovation and creativity are sparks that cannot be predicted.
