*My messy pile of life notes.*
##### what is it?
From the Italian word for salad, it’s a jumble of ideas, projects, ledgers, poems, and whatever else people wrote down.
Metaphorically, my messy pile of personal projects interleaves with work, the edges of modern life and work have porous and overlapping boundaries. Life and work are in constant push and pull, the edges of mine seem to be more dynamic than the Baltics.
##### why does it matter?
I can have a more clear sense of my understanding of the world by having all of my notes and ideas put together in a big pile.
I want my life and my work to be intertwined. They feed one another. My work makes me both a more mature person, helps me see the brevity and humor of life, and helps me appreciate what I have, if I listen. My home life gives me useful metaphors and ways of seeing. I have experienced time differently in the wind: [[The Wind Kept Time]], and in the slow changes of trees as I forage the land. I understand risk better while climbing, and pain better while loving.
##### This reminds me of
[[transitions involve a messy middle]], and emergence of ideas is a form of transition from the before to the after.
[[emergence]] is a key theme in this system.
[[Zettelkasten]] is another type of project, and this could be considered a zettlekasten-like personal knowledge system. It's also a vehicle for my second brain process. [[The second brain is a process not a place]]
##### What would the opposite argument be?
By separating out my ideas into buckets, I wouldn't run the risk of leaking between life areas. When are strict borders helpful, and when do they interfere? How can I create healthy boundaries, if I can't even tell when I'm working?
