%% [[Learning]] tags:: #note/idea people:: # The Generation Effect Lon Setnik dates:: 2022-10-10 %% *I remember what I write or say, not what I think or try to remember.* This reminds me of [[Writing]] to learn. It's kind of like [[short assignments and bad first drafts]] to get ideas down, is the first step towards creating a [[Zeigarnik Effect]] so that your brain can keep chewing on them. It is the process of [[Read with a pen in the hand]] so that you start to create your personal [[Zettelkasten]], and you start to remember some of what you read, just the stuff you are putting to work This matters because when you read you don't know how to use the information, but the act of writing in your own words is a way of [[Make Work Visible]] such that you can be [[Making Meaning]] in your work. This leads to deeper reflection, processing and ultimately creation. ### What would the opposite argument be? Just try harder to remember! ## Sources: [[Building a Second Brain]]
