*Shifting focus from the internal to the external and back to maintain situational awareness including to your own signals.*
This reminds me of the study on intubation and the worse people were looking back and forth at the screen and the mouth, or at least the harder intubations. In this case shifting attention in and out is helpful, maybe in that case if they had shifted attention in and out it would have been as well.
It's kind of like the challenge of [[emotion changes the world we are in]] as it relates to [[Peak performance]].
This is [[Self-Regulated Learning]] as it relates to broader situations, being in a growth [[Mindset]] by managing self-awareness and recognizing when you have gotten into a dangerous or distracted space.
This matters because managing the emotion allows you to be in the space of [[Flow]] in more moments, because your emotional state (too activated or not activated enough) could kick you out.
### What would the opposite argument be?
When you move attention away from the moment to yourself, you could loose [[🐓 Idea Farm/3 Inbox of ideas/situational awareness]].
