*In the classroom direct communication is only part of the story.*
Outside of the classroom the “teacher” plays three additional non-contact roles, key to UbD: [[Design thinking]] to design the activity, [[Assessing]] of student work, and [[Researching]] into one’s own effectiveness.

This reminds me that when I take on an additional teaching or talking opportunity, I need to use my [[Hell Yes or No]] mentality. I need to account for _all_ of the planning before and assessment and evaluation after. This can't just be done by me as well, it needs to be part of a team. We should also consider the elements of [[emergence]] that come from the activity, such as what did we learn about our context, or organization and ourselves.
This is similar to the mental and physical preparation for attempting to be my best climber. I need to be prepared to [[climb till you fall]], same as
This matters to me because the failure mode here is to only consider the moment of direct information gathering. Another failure mode is not using all of the available evidence after an educational intervention to determine my effectiveness. Which is a combination of assessment of learning and evaluation of my own intervention.
When the teacher designs [[Mastery Learning]] activities, they do spend more time assessing.
Questions I have:
1) how does [[Transformative Learning]] fit into this model?
2) How do the [[Roles of a teacher]] get redefined when the learners are doing the [[Double Helix Project]]?
3) What about what Demian said, we teach the course we want to teach?
### What would the opposite argument be?
The educator can't be responsible for everything. The student has responsibilities here as well. I can't be judged on what I make of the students, I must be realistic in terms of students becoming based largely on [[Cognitive Entry Behaviors]] more than my interventions.
