--- topic: [[Forming Habits]] created: 2023-01-08 --- *Don't aim for balance, aim for intentional imbalance around your priorities and values.* This reminds me of [[Design my life to live]], that if my goal is eventually balance, I need to reprioritize over time to keep the things I am less innately interested in or driven towards or focused on in my target area, since I will always drift towards certain things like work. This phrase, "[[Intentional Imbalance]]" came from episode 168 of the Podcast "Focused," and it really resonated with me. I think I am trying to be intentionally imbalanced towards my home, my [[Steward]] area, the work will come anyways. This idea matters because [[Barbells make you stronger]], focusing on the ends instead of the bell-curve is a key. The middle of the bell-curve is where normal things happen anyways, so paying most attention to the edges might be best at times. ##### What would the opposite argument be? From an [[Appreciative Inquiry]] view, [[you amplify what you focus on]], and so be sure what you want to amplify, you can easily tip the canoe of life. Maybe balance _is_ the right metaphor for lots of areas of life. tags: #note/idea | #on/life | #on/balance | #on/bias | #on/design ##### Sources: https://www.relay.fm/focused/168
