# The Eisenhower Box

*My most important work will not be today's emergency.*
This reminds me of [[Eliminate before optimize]], decide what I shouldn't do first, then I can be better at what I should do.
It's kind of like [[Forming Habits]], and [[To build better habits, change your identity]]. The new identity would be that I'm okay ignoring the alleged urgent in order to achieve the important. It's also a little about our processes being [[Amygdala Hijacking]] by the emotions and social aspects. [[management is doing things right, leadership is doing the right things]]!
The Eisenhower box is a decision process about how to prioritize long term over short term.
This matters, because if I'm going to be healthy in the long term, and live the life I want to life, I need to make sure I'm ding the right things. It's the difference between efficient and effective. It's the [[Leading]] over your life, deciding what to do. Not that manager of your life, deciding how to do it.
### What would the opposite argument be?
[[Wu Wei]] requires that you go with the flow, it might be easier to just go with the flow than to fight to be in the right box. But, since [[Four Thousand Weeks]], and [[How Will You Measure Your Life]], you cannot do it all so how do you do the right things.
