## Definition:
People need to maintain a consistency between thoughts, feelings and actions. Inconsistency between beliefs and actions creates psychological stress that the body attempts to reduce in order to maintain the world view. Information that disconfirms the strongly health theory contributes to the individuals identity, and causes them to seek social support to reduce that stress.
Cognitive dissonance is part of the system of **pressures of conformity** including _group dynamics_ and _ambiguity of social comparison_.
These have become cornerstones of *evolutionary psychology* and *cultural psychology.*

This reminds me of how the ego participants in [[Power Leaks]] as described in the [[Rock Warriors Way]], where our brain performs maneuvers that reduce our ability to perform but actually protect ourselves from risking our vision of our own ego.
This also reminds me [[Organizational Learning II]] where [[Double Loop Learning more than doubles the learning]] allows us to identify the drivers if we have created a situation of [[🐓 Idea Farm/9 🗄 Backlog/psychological safety]] where the thinking can be exposed.
