*The process of focused, individual advising to help someone improve based on your expertise in that area.*
This reminds me of [[learning leader]] being individually focused and [[Learner-Centered]]. By telling you can have a certain amount of impact. However, for ways of being, [[people do what they see you do not what you say]], so always be aware of how you are [[modeling vulnerability]] and openness to learning.
It's kind of like [[Mentoring]], but coaching is being more telling oriented. In a way, it's an attempt to influence, and [[influence is making change without authority]].
**Coaching** is a form of development in which an experienced person, called a coach, supports a learner or client in achieving a specific personal or professional goal by providing training and guidance. The learner is sometimes called a coachee. Occasionally, coaching may mean an informal relationship between two people, of whom one has more experience and expertise than the other and offers advice and guidance as the latter learns; but coaching differs from mentoring by focusing on specific tasks or objectives, as opposed to more general goals or overall development.

The [[Roles of a teacher]] includes coaching, which tends to be more specific than mentoring. [[Guiding, Intermediating, Facilitating, and Teaching]] might all be ways of coaching. Many people think that coaching is best done not by teaching, but by asking good questions with [[Inquiry]]. A coach can use [[Appreciative Inquiry]] to determine what's already working which can help with [[motivation]] because [[appreciation balances our negative tilt]] and helps us stay positive.
ChatGTP says:
1. How do you handle setbacks or failures in your life, and what strategies can we develop to build resilience and bounce back stronger?
2. What motivates you to perform at your best, and how can we tap into that motivation consistently?
3. etc.
_Remember that effective coaching is a collaborative process, and asking open-ended questions that encourage self-reflection and self-awareness can help coaches better understand their athletes/clients and tailor their coaching approach accordingly._
##### What would the opposite argument be?
Tell them what to do, it's their fault if they can't do it!
