# Checklists
*What the best pilots use to not die.*
This reminds me of how to ensure we are successful every time is to use a checklist. This reduces the cognitive load of the team so they can focus on the actions and doing those as well as possible.
Checklists are developed, drafted, piloted, then validated.
Checklists must work for the end user, not for the creator.
A checklist is NOT a teaching tool or an algorithm
Checklists themselves do not change outcomes, the teams must value the checklist, they must use it to identify barriers (not knowing equipment for example) and identify who and how the checklist will be used.
