*The pieces of the real world that I am blind to.*
This reminds me of how hard it is to work towards [[Identifying Reality]], there are certain things that my brain doesn't either accept, or see, or process.
It's kind of like [[your leaky face]], how the only person who cannot see your face is you. And you think you can hide your emotions, but you cannot. You also cannot see why people interpret your face the way they do. The [[Expert Blind Spot]] is a specific type of blind spot that exists when you transition to expertise. You "necessarily" become blind to what it is like as a novice. It's also like how when you look at your phone while you are driving you do not realize that you cannot see anything on the road, your brain fills it in.
It is technically the area of your retina where your optic nerve enters. Your eyes have to move because there is a part of the world that you do not capture. It is also the area of your car that (if your mirrors are set up a certain way) you cannot see.
This matters because the problem with blind spots is not only that you do not see them, but you do not see that you do not see them. This is also a type of [[Cognitive Dissonance]] for our brains, the idea that we exclude our brain from realizing that it doesn't have the right information, and we use [[confirmation bias]] to overvalue the information we do have.
### What would the opposite argument be?
Humans are information processing and inference making machines. We are really good at filling in missing information.
