Hi everyone! I’m Lon Setnik, and I’m thrilled to be serving as co-faculty for this HSE course. To give you a bit of my background: I practice clinically as a rural Emergency Physician in New Hampshire. My path to CMS has wound through roles as a Medical Director of Simulation and President of the Medical Staff; currently, I serve as the Physician Champion for Pediatric Readiness for my health system. I hold a Master’s in Health Professions Education and have deep roots here at CMS as a former fellow and past Director of Clinical Programs. If I could sit down for a conversation with three people, I’d choose Ben Thompson (_Stratechery_) to discuss how business logic reshapes our world, Edward Slingerland to dive into the art of "effortless action," and my great-grandmother, Anna Polenski. She lived to be 102, spanning a journey from a Russian village through a century of radical change—I’d love to learn how she navigated that "bumpy arc of history." I’m looking forward to learning with you all! Cheers, Lon --- Hi and Welcome! I’m Lon Setnik, and I am honored to serve as your Course Director for Healthcare Simulation Essentials. My primary goal is to keep our momentum forward and our logistics organized, ensuring both you and our faculty have a dedicated point person for any challenges. I’m also here to help spotlight our collective successes as we navigate this fantastic curriculum and learning environment together. A Little About Me I practice clinically as a rural Emergency Physician in Northern New Hampshire, where I serve as the Physician Champion for Pediatric Readiness at Littleton Regional Healthcare. My background in education includes a Master’s in Health Professions Education (MHPE) from MGH-IHP, and I previously served as the Director of Clinical Programs at the Center for Medical Simulation. I also held positions as Medical Director of Simulation, President of Medical Staff, and ED-Informaticist at a previous hospital system. The "Lon" Podcast If I were hosting a podcast today, my dream guest list would be eclectic: Ben Thompson (Stratechery) to dissect how technology reshapes our world; Edward Slingerland to explore the art of effortless action (Wu Wei); and my great-grandmother, Anna Polenski, who lived to 102 and witnessed the long, bumpy arc of the 20th century firsthand. I truly look forward to the diverse perspectives each of you brings to this program. Please reach out to me at [email protected] or +1-603-545-5190 with any questions or concerns.
