THE arts school of SUNY system This is a residential college, new construction is senior Broadview living - Integration of local senior living into the college community Students can bring cars all 4 years BFA dance is the only degree Very competitive- looking for 45 students out of 500 applicants 7 full time faculty 30 PT +4-5 guest artists per semester - good opportunity for connecting with people in the field All students get Pilates certification if wanted Classes and activities all day with students 10-12 and 12:45-2:45 One of the few public conservatories in the country - $ much more affordable than other conservatories Near NYC but bucolic - do perform on campus and in Chelsea, going to perform a Martha graham performance in NYC International touring - last was Taiwan Lots of international exchanges since 1980’s, study abroad partnerships for 1 semester in junior year, 8 schools available in Australia Europe and Asia - usually about 1/2 of the junior class goes abroad Injury prevention and treatments - partnership with Harkens center for dance injuries - present 2-3 times per week, screening at arrival and ongoing programs to reduce injury Scholarships are talent based, proportional to the tuition so typically in the $2-8,000, reassessed annually General Education courses for first 3 years - each semester students take about 1 per semester Students can minor in other topics and many do, some do a double degree but it’s difficult (10 currently) Transfers in start from scratch Mental health counseling available on campus
