--- --- *When you see a behavior in yourself, you need to ask why in order to solve for change.* This reminds me of [[ask five whys to learn the real issue]] It's kind of like [[AEIOU of observations]], trying to apply this [[Design thinking]] to why you act. This is a way of legitimizing the behaviors you see. They have a purpose. [[Digital Minimalism]]: consider what problem my phone is solving for by asking [[AEIOU of observations]] why, with who, etc. This matters because we can't just get rid of behaviors until we understand why they exist. We can use [[task analysis]], [[I saw I think I wonder]], [[framestorming]], etc to think about the why. Use [[Double Loop Learning more than doubles the learning]] about behaviors. Consider using the [[Tiny Habits]] or [[Bins/Ideas/Purposeful LIfe/Atomic Habits]] loops. ##### What would the opposite argument be? [[any attention is a behavioral reinforcement]], when you do this you focus on the behavior in a way that may be counterproductive. Don't think about the pink elephant. ##### Sources:
