Darkness filled the sky and the house and the bedroom and her eyes.
Then, her lids opened. She reflexively flipped the switch above her head. Nothing happened, again.
Her feet hit the achingly cold floor. Her breath invisibly fogged the unlit air. Her hands already ached with cold.
Brown water bubbled from the sink in a weak stream. Well, at least that was working today.
She sat down on the cushions on the floor. A warm ball uncurled gently, and tail up, strode over and plopped on her lap.
They purred.
